The Story Behind the Painting
Flowers in a Blue Vase
Vincent van Gogh·c. June 1887
Some of the yellow flowers in this Van Gogh are no longer the colour he painted them. He made it in Paris around June 1887, teaching himself bold colour with cheap bouquets and borrowed dots, and more than a century later X-ray beams finally explained what went wrong.
